Arlo Cansino

Human Health Scientist

Arlo Cansino serves as Program Coordinator at The Belize Vector and Ecology (BVEC), where his experience in project management, financial management, community outreach and even hands-on research aids the organization's mission of understanding and combating vector-borne diseases in Belize. Inspired by his firsthand observations of the health challenges faced in rural communities and by conservation rangers to diseases like Leishmaniasis, Arlo brings a unique perspective to the scientific research being conducted at BVEC. As a graduate of the University of Belize with a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, his initial work at the Belize Tourism Board focused on developing sustainable tourism opportunities for rural communities, fostering a deep understanding of Belize's diverse landscape and the needs of its people. His passion for his country and a growing fascination with the complexities of vector-borne illnesses drive his commitment to creating a safer and healthier Belize through his work at BVEC.
