Manfredo Turcios

Biodiversity Scientist, Co-PI, Honduras

I am a biologist from Honduras, holding an MSc in Biodiversity Tomsk State University (TSU-Russia) and currently pursuing a PhD in Zoology at Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC-Brazil). I am the co-founder of ASICH (Association for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development in Honduras), a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting scientific research and conservation initiatives throughout the country. Over the past several years, I have been actively involved in field-based research, biodiversity monitoring, and conservation projects across a wide range of ecosystems in Honduras, from tropical forests to cloud-covered mountain regions.

My work has primarily focused on mammals, particularly in understanding their diversity, distribution, and conservation status. I have collaborated with national and international institutions to carry out ecological assessments, develop species inventories, and implement conservation strategies for threatened species and their habitats. My research integrates both classical and modern approaches to address questions related to systematics, taxonomy, biogeography, and ecology.
